About

Pieces of me

I bid you welcome to my domain
where pieces of myself remain
half are dead, and half alive
such is the nature of the beast inside

Bipolar is the name
for my kind of insane
it’s my claim to fame
my everlasting crying shame

I guarantee no consistency
posting with no regularity
maybe a rhyme, perhaps some reason
all depending on the season

my account will be brutally honest
a true reflection of me, I promise
some accounts may shock, possibly inspire,
others will make you laugh ’til you cry

the extreme passion that I represent
delivers language that could well offend
I offer no apology
for my own biology
in the real world I am censored and banned
but this space I’ve carved out, is to be as I am

before you I stand beautifully flawed
it does appear that Bipolar’s one cause
if not anything else I’m interesting
making fun of myself, you’ll be giggling

So settle in, enjoy the ride
bipolar dishes a lovely side
of triumphs, failures, long laments
happy times some tears, regrets
I’ll air my laundry out to dry
you’ll see, we’re all quite similar

Important Stats:
Female, 44 years old
Married 15 years. Ex-husband alcoholic. Divorced 2014
Abuse as child + adult
Anorexia – 13yrs old until ………..
Initial diagnosis at 13 years old of major depression. Bipolar diagnosis at 30 years old
Mother died 1992. Suicide. Bipolar + eating disorder

My best friend’s comment to me one day – “Pieces, I can’t feel sorry for you. I can’t have pity for you because I can only admire you for the road you have travelled and the obstacles you’ve overcome”

Why a clock as my profile pic:
I’m running against time
I’ve wasted so much time
I have deadlines to meet (job related)
Running against the clock
The final countdown
Coming down to the final hour
So much time to catch up on
Time heals all wounds
It gets easier over time
All in due time

  2. What a great introduction in your about page. Glad WordPress twigged me on to your blog, I look forward to reading more!

My wife too suffers from bio-polar disorder, so I can empathize with the challenges you face daily. I started my blog as a form of therapy and to better educate myself about my wife’s disorder. Feel free to drop by my blog, who knows…perhaps you will find something there that interest you!

    1. Hello Vic. Thank you for the words of encouragement. It means a lot. Apologies for the late reply. You’re a wonderful husband to support your wife as you do, and to want to educate yourself about the illness. Too many people can’t be bothered. I will most definitely check you site out. I wish you and your wife hope and peace.

Your research is phenomenal and has helped not only in my own personal growth, but having resources to share among others in an attempt that they mind understand me better. So I accept your nomination for the Mental Health Blog Award

      1. Awesome! I may not be able to reply to you until evening though because the weekends are family time for me. So if I don’t reply immediately – that’s why 🙂

Certainly love to hear your story! 🙂

      2. I understand, of course family time comes first. I have so many pieces to my story. I’ll have to have a think and write on whatever one I feel is the most empowering and relatable as far as relationships go

  6. I loved all of this. My dad collects antique ships clocks and a few other kinds. He is obsessed with time and running out of it. I enjoy taking pictures of some of his clocks that are more gothic looking. The writing here is brilliant. Thank you!
